This is a guide in order for players to learn how to have fun, play and gain resources and money in the Classic Server. I love this server and most importantly the people here and this is why I am taking the time to make this guide. I am just a player so this guide is not a manual it’s just the best way to start playing according to my personal experience, I hope new and maybe old players find this guide useful. Please do comment any additions and mistakes, make this a thread we can send to new people :) .
If possible please merge the parts thread was too big.

It is strongly recommended to use 1.16.3 + for the full experience the server provides.

Getting Started:

Do
/rules

This command will guide you here:

Follow them, respect each other, the goal here is to have fun.

Be honest, if you did something that is not allowed by accident don’t lie to staff this will just make it worse.

You are in spawn which you can visit anytime with the command /spawn. You can’t leave spawn by foot and you can’t die or play here neither drop items etc. So you will start playing with the teleportation commands shown beneath or you can walk to the two nether portals you will see, these portals are like using the /rtp and /wild commands.

/kit

Claim your Newbie kit once you log in you can claim this kit grabbing some bread and armor until you settle down.

/rtp
/wild

These commands will teleport you to a random place in the map so you can start playing, these places are close to other people so if you like being far from others you should walk further away from the teleportation point. Although you don’t need to worry for any kind of griefing or stealing actions against you since it’s against the rules and staff will take care of these situations.

If you die a deathchest will remain at your death location for 5 minutes, you will see the coordinates of your deathchest in chat, if you get there in time right click it and you can get your items back.

Before you do anything there is a very important thing you must do:

/jobs browse

Jobs are the easiest way to start grinding money and have a steady income to your balance. You can check how much money you have with the following commands:

/bal
/balance

Money can be used in this server to buy things from /shop or from /ca (/ca is the player shop also known as /ah auction house) We will talk about this later in this guide.

The way jobs work is that you get paid money by doing certain actions that each job pays you for. Jobs have their own experience level, the highest level you are at a certain job the more money you will gain by doing the job actions.

Example (these are not the in game money values) :

Level 1 Miner Action = Break one stone , you earn = 1$

Level 2 Miner Action = Break one stone , you earn = 1,2$

Level 100 Miner Action = Break one stone , you earn = 8$

The Jobs:

  • Woodcutter: Earns Money felling and cutting trees
  • Miner: Earns Money mining minerals and ores
  • Digger: Earns Money by digging
  • Farmer: Earns Money mostly by farming and planting crops (other actions included are tame, breed, shear and cow milking)
  • Crafter: Earns money by crafting items
  • Fisherman: Earns money from fishing
  • Weaponsmith: Earns money from crafting and repairing weapons
  • Brewer: Earns money from brewing potions

If you left click on a job at the /jobs browse menu you can see exactly which actions provide you with money and how much money. To join a job right click it and to leave it middle click it.
You can join a maximum of 3 jobs.

Choosing a job:

The 3 professions you will be having depends mostly on what you like doing and depends from your playstyle.
Simple example if you enjoy brewing potions then join the brewer job, if you like fishing then join the fisherman job.

Woodcutter job is not a good job to join, the reason is the woodcutting plug that exists in the classic server. If you cut the lowest log of a tree(or a higher but not the whole tree) then the whole tree will fall down, adding the logs and saplings automatically to your inventory, this is making the woodcutter job very easy therefore it does not reward you with good money.
Important note on this plug in is that your axe lose durability for the whole tree not just the one log so be careful.
This does not apply on Jungle trees.

Probably the best starter jobs are: Miner and Farmer

Miner provides a fair amount of money and you will be doing a lot of mining at the beginning of your journey in order to gain the resources you need.

Farmer also provides a very good amount of money and farmer actions are very common to do when you start building your new base.

Farmer job has great potential too, very big farms that you will be able to build later in game will provide you a great amount of money, with the king in this category being wheat farms. So already having some farmer levels before you start heavy grinding will provide you more money in the future (since bigger job level = more money for job actions).

I would say that fisherman job is also good, money earnings are fair and you get valuable things from fishing such as food, saddles , nautilus shells , Enchanting Books.
It also requires only a fishing rod for you to start working. You will also probably be able to buy a fully enchanted fishing rod from another player for about 1000 – 4000 $ .

There is plenty more information also in /jobs browse about each job.

Claiming:

You see that you already have a golden shovel (two if you claimed newbie kit)
Golden shovel is used to claim your land.
Claiming protects your base from someone else using it, so nobody will be able to take items from your chests or in general do any actions inside your claimed land ( break blocks , interact with entities such as villagers etc.)

Creating a claim is really simple. Hold the golden shovel in your hand and mark with right click the two diagonal corners of a rectangle (or square) , inside this shape it will be your claimed land.

If you are still having troubles with this procedure ask someone for help in chat, the community is very friendly and someone will guide you through it.
Here is also a tutorial:
and another tutorial:

You won’t have many claim blocks at first but you can get more claim blocks by voting.
You can obtain a total of 2000 claiming blocks only via gameplay (simply by just being active)
Do /vote and click the link, this will guide you to the three voting links.
Voting rewards you with tokens, you can redeem your tokens at the token shop,
You can easily visit the token shop by using the commands /token shop or /ts.
And you can check your token balance by doing /tokens

By right clicking with a stick in your hand you can see claimed land, that claimed land can be yours or someone else’s , use the stick to check your claim and to see if you are in a claim that does not belongs to you.

You can also have multiples claims, to see your claims perform the command /claimlist this will show the number of your claims and their coordinates.
When creating your first claim and mostly when you are clicking the second corner of your claim, it is very common to receive the error “This claim would be too small” or “You do not have enough blocks to claim that entire area”.
Just click a corner furthest from the first one, or closer to the first one in each case,
Don’t reclick your first corner just keep clicking the corner you want your second point to be until your claim is created.
